Michalis Deligiannis is an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management and Logistics at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly.
He studied Mathematics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and continued at the same Department with postgraduate studies in Statistics and Modeling. In 2022, he completed his PhD thesis at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly, in the area of Production and Operations Management.
During his academic and research career, he has worked at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands, at the University of Thessaly as a research associate and postdoctoral researcher, and at Luiss Guido Carli in Rome as a postdoctoral researcher.
His research interests focus on decision-making in supply chain management and operations management, especially in environments of uncertainty and imperfect information. He studies problems of inventory management, procurement and supplier selection, dual sourcing, pricing and capacity management.
Part of his research concerns cases in which firms gradually acquire information about demand or supply and adjust their decisions as new data becomes available. To study these problems, he mainly uses stochastic models, dynamic programming, game theory and Bayesian learning.
His work has been published in the scientific journals European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Omega and International Journal of Production Research.
