The Department of Mechanical Engineering aims at
- providing high-quality education in Engineering,
- developing innovative knowledge through fundamental and applied research,
- implementing and transferring this education and knowledge for the benefit of our society at national and international level.
Currently, the Department is well-established in Greek society, and is continuously improving its position within the academic community, as an Engineering Department with strong international reputation. The Department:
- promotes education and research excellence;
- establishes strong interaction with industrial partners;
- produces cutting-edge knowledge in Mechanical Engineering;
- implements and transfers its know-how for the benefit of our society.
The Faculty and Research Staff of the Department are committed to academic excellence and ethics. Our curriculum is evaluated and reformed according to modern developments in engineering science and education. Special activities refer to:
- introducing case studies and specialized software into several engineering courses,
- developing quality control and self-assessment procedures,
- encouraging and promoting cooperation with industry in numerous doctoral dissertations and diploma theses,
- requiring a minimum of two-month practical training for all our students.
The Faculty Members and our research collaborators participate in numerous competitive research programs, most of those projects in close cooperation with industrial partners. This provides added value to our activities, and offers excellent career opportunities to our graduates.
