The department is administered by the Chairman and Vice Chairman that are elected for two years. The General Assembly (GA) of the Department is the primary administrative body through which teaching and research policy is determined and control is exercised. The Special Assembly deals mainly with the postgraduate studies. Both assemblies consist of departments’ academic staff, and representatives from the student body, the technical staff and the administrative staff. The GA is often supported by several special-purpose advisory committees. Finally, both assemblies meet regularly on the 2nd Wednesday of every month and exceptionally when necessary. Each of the three Divisions of the Department are administered by a Director (elected for one year) and the General Assembly, consisting of its academic staff and student representatives.
Currently, the Chairman of the Department is Associate Professor Georgios Kozanidis and the Vice Chairman is Professor Athanasios Papathanasiou.
