To strengthen the connection between academic knowledge and industrial production, a large group of undergraduate students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering organised an educational visit to the facilities of Koutsogiannis LTD Steel Workshop, located in the Industrial Area of Volos. The students were accompanied by Associate Professor Dr. Emmanouil Bouzakis, who supervised the educational activity.
During the visit, the participants were guided through the company’s production facilities and gained direct exposure to modern technologies and practices employed in the mechanical engineering industry. In particular, the students had the opportunity to:
- observe the operation of state-of-the-art machine tools for metal machining and forming,
- receive detailed information on the methods and stages involved in the manufacturing of high-precision components,
- engage in discussions with the company’s specialised technical staff and engineers, exchanging views on technological challenges and the requirements of modern mechanical design.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering would like to express its sincere appreciation to the management and staff of Koutsogiannis LTD Steel Workshop for their warm hospitality, the excellent guided tour, and their willingness to share their valuable expertise with future engineers. Exposure to real industrial working environments constitutes a fundamental pillar of students’ comprehensive academic and professional development.
