The position has a duration of 36 months and can lead to a PhD degree. The successful candidate must register for the PhD program in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Thessaly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Host Organization:\u00a0<\/strong>The beneficiary\/employer in the Doctoral Candidate position DC6 is University of Thessaly in Greece.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility Criteria:\u00a0<\/strong>The applicants may be of any nationality. Within the DME, the research units \u201cSystems Dynamics Laboratory (SDLab)\u201d and \u201cAutomatic Control &amp; Autonomous Systems Laboratory (ACAS)\u201d will participate to the DIAMOND network. The SDLab is performing internationally leading research on data-driven uncertainty quantification in engineering science. SDLab research expertise include: probabilistic modeling, Bayesian inference, optimal experimental design, structural identification, structural health monitoring, structural reliability, design optimization under uncertainty. A wide range of applications is covered, including mechanical, structural and civil engineering systems, as well as smart infrastructure networks (e.g. transportation and water distribution networks). Through collaborations with international research groups in Europe and USA, members of SDLab (<a href=\"https:\/\/mie.uth.gr\/?labs=system-dynamics-laboratory&amp;lang=en\"><strong>http:\/\/www.mie.uth.gr\/labs\/sdl<\/strong><\/a>) are also involved in research related to data-driven modeling and\u00a0uncertainty quantification and propagation\u00a0in the areas of molecular dynamics, nanotechnology, computational fluid dynamics, and in biomechanical\/biological systems (e.g. multi-scale modelling of muscle tissues, epidemic spread on networks, optimal sensor cell distribution in fish lateral line), impacting developments in the broader field of data-driven simulation-based engineering and life sciences.
