The Diploma Thesis is credited with 30 ECTS units.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Two month<a href=\"\/?page_id=13178&amp;lang=en\"> <span style=\"color: #003366;\">internship<\/span><\/a> usually taking place at the end of the 6th or the 8th semester, credited with 2 ECTS units.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/div><div><div>All courses are taught in the Greek language, but exceptions are possible to enable foreign students to attend them.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><strong><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color: #003366;\">Specialization Field of Studies<\/span><\/strong><\/div><p>At the end of the 5th semester of his\/her studies, each student chooses a field of study in which he wishes to specialize. The 3 fields currently operating in the Department are the following:<\/p><div><ul><li>\u039a1: Energy, Industial Processes and Pollution Abatement Technology<\/li><li>\u039a2:\u00a0 Mechanics Materials and Manufacturing Processes<\/li><li>\u039a3: Production Management and Industrial Administration<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">After choosing one of the three fields, K1, K2 or K3, the student is obliged to attend and successfully be examined in the 3 compulsory courses associated with that field.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><\/div><div><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Attending 4th and 5th Year Courses<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div><div><p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"> In order for a student to be able to attend courses in the 4th and 5th year of studies, he\/she must have successfully been examined in at least 23 courses of those offered during the first three years of studies (excluding the two foreign language courses), out of which at least 8 courses must belong to the following\u00a0 list:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.mie.uth.gr\/?page_id=17675&amp;lang=en\">\u0393\u03950101 APPLIED MATHEMATICS I <\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17684&amp;lang=en\">\u0393\u03951200 COMPUTER PROGRAMMING <\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17693&amp;lang=en\">\u039f\u03a00211 APPLIED STATISTICS I <\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17725&amp;lang=en\">\u0393\u03950102 APPLIED MATHEMATICS II<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17729&amp;lang=en\">\u039c\u03a50400 MECHANICS- STATICS <\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17748&amp;lang=en\">\u0395\u039d0101 THERMODYNAMICS\u00a0 I <\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17776&amp;lang=en\">\u039c\u03a50500 DYNAMICS<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.mie.uth.gr\/?page_id=17802&amp;lang=en\">\u039f\u03a00500 LINEAR PROGRAMMING <\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.mie.uth.gr\/?page_id=17836&amp;lang=en&amp;preview=true\">\u039f\u03a01300 MATHEMATICAL PROGRAMMING<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17838&amp;lang=en\">\u039c\u03a52100 MECHANICS OF MATERIALS I<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17844&amp;lang=en\">\u0395\u039d0201 FLUID MECHANICS I <\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/?page_id=17896&amp;lang=en\">\u0395\u039d0301 HEAT TRANSFER<\/a><\/li><\/ul><div><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Elective Courses<\/strong><\/span><\/div><div style=\"text-align: justify;\">To fulfill the course requirements for graduation, a student must be successfully be examined in at least 4 elective courses. The list of elective courses consists of a few general elective courses, and a larger number of specialized elective courses that are offered by the 3 fields of specialization. A student may attend elective courses offred from any specialization field. It is also possible for a student to register in more than 4 elective courses. In that case, however, he\/she must be successfully examined in all except one of them. All these courses will appear in his\/\/her diploma transcript, but only the 4 courses with the highest grade will be considered for the calculation of his\/her final Diploma Grade.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Grading System and Final Diploma Grade<\/strong><\/span><\/div><div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The final grade in each course is based on the student\u2019s performance in various activities, such as midterm and final exams, homework assignments and projects, laboratory repots, etc, depending on the course. The maximum grade in every course is 10.0, while the minimum passing grade is 5.0. The same is also true for the Diploma Thesis. All courses are credited with 6 ECTS units, except the Foreign Language courses which are credited with 2 ECTS units. The final grade of the Diploma degree is based on the grade point average of the 45 courses required for the degree and the Diploma Thesis grade, each grade weighted with the corresponding number of ECTS units.
