Transport Processes & Process Equipment Laboratory

GENERAL INFO

The laboratory is dedicated to fundamental and applied research in Transport Phenomena and Industrial Processes. Particular emphasis is placed on flows with free surfaces/interface, micro-fluidics and vacuum flows, as well as on applications related to renewable energies, energy saving and industrial pollution abatement. More specifically, the research interests of the members of the laboratory include:

  • Flows with free surfaces/interfaces and related transport phenomena
  • Multiphase flows in conduits and process equipment
  • Analysis of transport phenomena in industrial processes
  • Diffusion and trapping of hydrogen in metals
  • Kinetic theory (Boltzmann equation) and rarefied gas dynamics
  • Analytical and computational mesoscale methods
  • Micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMs), microfluidics and vacuum technology
  • Scale formation and control in industrial processes
  • Treatment and recycling of industrial water
  • Exploitation of geothermal energy and energy from biomass
  • Decline and restoration of items of cultural heritage
