Τίτλος: Reciprocal Relations in Irreversible Thermodynamics
Περιγραφή: The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1968 was awarded to Lars Onsager for the discovery of the reciprocal relations, which are fundamental for the thermodynamics of irreversible processes. The first paper about this topic was published by him in 1931. Later, Casimir generalized the reciprocal relations considering different types of thermodynamic fluxes. Using these relations, one can couple the kinetic coefficients corresponding to the socalled cross phenomena. As a result, the number of the kinetic coefficients determining irreversible processes is reduced. These relations also can be used as additional criteria of numerical accuracy and experimental uncertainty. In many practical applications, the reciprocal relations allow us to diminish a number of measurements in experiments and to reduce computational efforts in numerical calculations. Nowadays, the reciprocal relations are not just a fundamental property of the nonequilibrium thermodynamics but are very useful tools in computational physics and engineering. In the presentation, a history of this question, recent achievements, and practical examples of their applications will be given.
